Kathleen O'Shea is racing again at altitude in Colorado. This past weekend, Paragon's Track Star won two gold medals! O'Shea raced the 100m and 400m Dashes at the Rocky Mountain State Games, and she crushed them both. Most notably, this is a new personal record (PR) for O'Shea in the 100m Dash! O'Shea keeps getting faster. It is also a new seasonal best for her in the 400m Dash. In the 400m, O'Shea was leading the whole race from the blocks and around the last turn. As she approached the finish line, she could hear one of her competitors close behind. O'Shea surged for the line and secured the Gold! The personal records are hard-earned successes. O'Shea has been diligently digging deep at early morning track practices and uphill sprint workouts. This was a qualifier meet for Senior National Games in Albuquerque, NM in 2019. O'Shea is competing again this coming weekend to qualify for the USTAF Outdoor National Championships in Spokane, WA. Her pre-lims for the 400m are Thursday, and finals are Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, she will be competing in pre-lims and hopefully finals for the 200m Dash as well! Good luck to Kathleen.
Also racing this past weekend was Albert Villarreal and Jerett Gordon. Both competed in the Don't Tread on My Tri Sprint triathlon event on Sunday in San Marcos, finishing a 500-meter swim, 12-mile bike, and 3-mile run. Villarreal is seeing great improvements in triathlon, notably the swimming. Gordon took home the 2nd place award for his age group. Nice racing guys!
Also on Sunday, Kelly McConie rode the Katy Flatland Century. It was a hot day for the riders, but McConie finished (and enjoyed) the 102-mile course.
