Meet Evan Landez. Evan came to Paragon Training when he started college and joined the UTSA Triathlon Club. He has a high school cross country background, and he is one of our esteemed coaches at the Paragon Summer Running Camp.
Age: 21
Grade: Senior at UTSA
How long have you been doing running and competing in triathlons? I have been running for almost 8 years and doing triathlons for almost 4, since I started college at UTSA.
Why do you like running and triathlons? I like running long distance, because it isn't easy and I feel like I'm doing something extraordinary and pushing my body past its limits. Triathlon is an extension of that as I incorporate more and varied types of training.
What was one highlight from your 2018 year of sport? While 2018 was not a great year for racing, it was pretty good for training! My biggest highlight would probably either be riding my first century or moving up in the lanes in swimming.
Favorite post-workout or race meal: My favorite post workout meal would either be post long run tacos or post swim wings, with the occasional fruit and vegetable thrown in there.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I mainly want to become a coach. I never had the "glory days" that people talk about in high school and such, so I hope to be someone who can guide other people into their glory days.
Tell us something no one knows about you: One thing that people don't know about me, which I guess they will, is that I love to sing. However, my singing career is regulated to my shower and my car.
Make sure to send your pictures from training and racing to: racing@paragontraining.org so we can showcase all the rad stuff you guys do.
