Paragon at the Texas Tough Du, Relay, 5k

Paragon Training hosted the Texas Tough Duathlon on Sunday, the 5k run - 16mi bike - 2.5k run event benefitting the UTSA Tri Club. We had a number of athletes racing the hilly course. Our newest Paragon Training Coach, Jerett Gordon, placed 3rd in the Open Division. Carlos Torres placed 2nd in the Master's Division. Pablo Bueno and his wife, Ana Calderon, won the Co-Ed Relay. Alfonso Campa won his age group. Austin Sobczak placed 5th in his age group. Jose Vaquedano placed 2nd in his age group. Beatriz Salvat placed 3rd in her age group. And Şerife Tekin won the 5k! (Even though it was a 5k Fun Run, we will duly credit her with the victory!) UTSA seniors are also encouraged to compete: Jordan Chagoya and Erick Ovalle raced. Lots of podium pictures to go around!

Over 220 people competed in the individual duathlon, relay, and 5k on Sunday, making it the 6th and largest Texas Tough yet! The Duathlon is also part of the collegiate series for triathlon clubs in our region. We had 68 collegiate athletes racing, and they definitely elevated the competition. The fastest male and female times of the day were both collegiate athletes from Rice University.

A special thanks goes out to the individuals and business that made this event possible. We have a big check on the way for the UTSA triathletes!

Thanks to: Kathleen O'Shea, Realtor; Robert Byard with Lonestar Multisports; Red Bull; Race Revolutions; Erik Burciaga with E-Dragon; Hammer Nutrition; Justin Nix with Custom Printed Materials LLC; Mark Purnell with I Speak For You; Beeline Bikes and Crossroads Bikes; HEB; Paul with DoMore; Kacey McQuiston, Agustin Salvat, Andrew Weathers, and Daniel Rodriguez for photography; Raul Correa with El Charro Mexican Restaurant; and all of the volunteers from UTSA and IBC Bank!!

Make sure to send your pictures from training and racing to: racing@paragontraining.org so we can showcase all the rad stuff you guys do.
