Meet this month's Athlete Spotlight -- Fernanda Sanchez! Fernanda "Fern" Sanchez is the kind of athlete who meets even the toughest challenges with grit and grace. Her resilience and joy in the face of adversity are what truly set her apart. Check out the Q & A with Fernanda:

Age: 33
Occupation: Financial Analyst
How long have you been swimming, cycling, running, and/or doing triathlons?
I ran my first half marathon back in 2018, and that’s when I really got into endurance sports. Since then, it’s been a journey of slowly leveling up and seeing how far I can push my limits!
What aspects of training and/or racing do you enjoy most?
I’ll choose racing over training a million times. I love the adrenaline, being surrounded by people pushing their limits, and the whole race-day atmosphere.
What has been your favorite training or racing event, and why?
Definitely Ironman Texas. It was a mix of nerves, excitement and questionable life choices. crossing that finish line felt like a huge accomplishment. Plus, training with other team members made the whole process more fun and motivating.
What is your favorite post-workout or race meal?
Chocolate milk no doubt about this one. It’s the perfect reward and recovery fuel.
What is one recent accomplishment you are proud of?
Finishing my first 50-miler! I didn’t really think it through when I signed up, but now it’s one of my favorite memories. It was tough, fun and totally worth it.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Fast.
What is something no one knows about you?
I’ve lived in six different countries—not many people know that!
Why do you race/train?
It gives me structure, helps me stay sane, and honestly, there’s nothing like the feeling you get after finishing a tough workout or crossing a finish line. It’s how I challenge myself, have fun, and prove to myself that I can keep going even when things get tough.
