Meet our July Athlete Spotlight, Daniel Dalley! Daniel and his siblings started out with Paragon's USA Swimming Club just to get exercise, but now he likes competing in the swim meets. This is now Daniel's 4th year swimming with Paragon. Daniel has really enjoyed his coaches and swimming with friends, and we're happy to have him as part of the team!

How long have you been swimming?
I have been swimming since I was 3 years old. I started by learning how to flip on my back when I got tired. Now that I am older, there have been times when I wish I could flip on my back when I swim the long events.
Why do you like swimming?
Swimming is relaxing and when I swim, I clear my mind of all the other things I have to do.
What is your favorite event to swim, and why?
I prefer the Freestyle events and like the sprints, but Coach Mark is training me to swim longer events like the mile.
What is your favorite post-workout or race meal?
Definitely chocolate milkshakes!
What is one recent accomplishment you are proud of?
I was excited when I finished my first mile swim at a meet.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Right now, the only thing I have been thinking about is being a journalist. I like to write. I hope I also continue to swim and don’t just sit at a computer all day.
What is something no one knows about you?
I have Autosomal Compelling Helio-Ophthalmic Outburst syndrome – look it up!
